Tottenham Hotspur knocked Chelsea off the top of the Premier League table thanks to a 2-0 victory over Manchester City to celebrate Jose Mourinho’s anniversary in north London.

While every single Spurs player played valiantly in north London, England captain Harry Kane was particularly special on the night as he bullied Ruben Diaz and Aymeric Laporte.

It took just five minutes for Jose Mourinho’s men to open the scoring when a clever run by Kane left space in behind the City defence for Tanguy Ndombele to chip into behind.

Hueng-min Son gleefully raced onto the delicately weighted pass to finish smartly between Ederson’s legs.

It looked as though City had found an equaliser through Laporte, but VAR adjudged Gabriel Jesus to have handled the ball before laying it for the centre-back to score.

Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola have clashed over the years in Spain and in Manchester previously, but it was the ‘Special One’ who prevailed on Saturday night and sealed the game with an inspired substitution.

Giovanni Lo Celso scored with almost his first touch after Kane turned and collected Toby Alderweireld’s pass and spotted Lo Celso’s run on the left-hand side, with the midfielder taking a touch before he fired past Ederson for his first ever Premier League goal.

Victory for Spurs means they have collected 1000 Premier League points in their history, with a title charge under Mourinho looking likely and points from now on a premium.

Chelsea were top of the table after beating Newcastle in the early kick off, with the London derby between the two sides next Sunday set to be an mouth-watering affair.
